who came up with the name?
rob jr. came up with renaissance entertainment before he passed away and then
j.a.y. came up with "r.e.a.l." (reno)
it was a group effort. it was an acronym before there was a meaning. (j.a.y.)

what is r.e.a.l. music?
a compilation of all music. renaissance means a compilation of everything.
so rob came up with that. (reno)
we do it from life experiences, goals, and things we have seen so that's
where real comes from. (j.a.y.)
it speaks for itself. it's authentic music. we speak it how we see it. (ize)
the collaboration of different artists with different styles. we are a group
of artists with the same goal of making real music. here in town looking
past the haters to achieve the basic goal of putting tulsa back in the
limelight in the music sense. a lot of people don't understand that music
lived here for a long time. (tylee)
it's spitting from your heart. not holding anything back. even competing

it's hard, but if i had to choose, i wouldn't let j.a.y. go to another team.
but i like mills coz he can do it all. we haven't got everyone up and running
and ready to go to their full potential, yet, on the ladies' side, but tylee
has the most experience. it's a hard business, so on the lady's side i would
have to go with tylee. (reno)
that has to be j.a.y. ize been stepping up, but j.a.y. has been the leader

r.e.a.l.'s home genres are hip-hop and r&b. stepping outside of the comfort
zone, which genre would be the funnest to tackle, and which would present
the most challenges?
r.e.a.l.'s version of country would be a challenge because rap doesn't quite
fit into true country, but if we had to, we could do it. i am country. i was
raised in the country so i would have to carry the load in that way, and
guide the rest of us. (tylee)
i would kill [country]. i know i could do it [laughs]. (j.a.y.)
techno would be the most fun coz there's really no words. techno is really
high hats and boom booms [laughs]. the most difficult would be gospel
because of the transition from mainstream music to a restricted genre
and we may not be accepted there even though some of us grew up singing

rock would be the funnest and the coolest to do because of the amount of instruments involved. it allows us to work as a group because no one person can do it by themselves. (2u raw)
the funnest would be rock becoz we have a guitar player and i dont think [lil] wayne did it justice. autotune and rock should not go together. the hardest would be bluegrass. i say that because the pain would be hard to immulate. granted we all been through a lot but the way they portray their music throughout an entire career, i just can't do it. it's just too emotional.
