manly men shave chest hair

okay, by now a lot of you have seen the Nivea For Men Active 3 commericials where the product serves as a shampoo, a shower gel and shaving gel. well i couldn't help but pick up on the social undertones in the commercial. it seems that it is now socially acceptable to have a hairless chest and be a manly man at the same time.
follow me: such a phrase exists where someone might suggest a stiff drink because "it'll put some hair on your chest". historically, in that context, a hairy chest equals manhood. next level thinking would suggest that the opposite of that would be feminine and thus often associated with homosexuality.
full circle to present day: things that have been borderline have often been described as metro-sexual, but as you can seen from the commericial, it is now okay to openly discuss with friends that you shave your chest hair.
weird.
